KÉSZ Építő és Szerelő Zrt. commences taxiway renovation at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport
KÉSZ Építő és Szerelő Zrt. has launched the full-scale renovation of the TXL G – Golf taxiway, located behind aircraft stands R110–117, at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. This project not only ensures safe operations but also supports the future expansion and technological modernization of the airport.
As a member of KÉSZ Group, KÉSZ Építő és Szerelő Zrt. was awarded and has commenced the reconstruction works of the TXL G – Golf taxiway. The renovation covers the section behind stands R110–R117, impacting a total area of more than 17,000 m². As part of the development, one of the airport’s key junctions and a section of taxiway B1 will also be fully upgraded. The outdated pavement structure will be replaced with a high-load-bearing substructure and basalt concrete surface. The works include the replacement of 260 meters of heavy-duty drainage channels and the construction of a new, state-of-the-art stormwater drainage branch. The area will also receive a new airfield lighting system, meeting the most stringent safety and technical standards. All related lighting infrastructure will be modernized, including new protective ducts, lighting manholes, and information signs.
This project is a forward-looking investment that enables the airport's future expansions and technological developments. Every detail of the renovated area will comply with the rigorous requirements set by domestic and international aviation authorities, including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. The execution also prioritizes sustainability: approximately 99% of the removed materials will be recycled, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions from transportation.
“It’s great to prove ourselves once again at the airport. These works are always about more than just concrete and asphalt. Meeting the specific regulations of aviation and international standards requires deep expertise. We are proud that the airport has once again placed its trust in KÉSZ’s professional know-how and experience,” said István Fekete, Chief Project Officer of KÉSZ Holding.
Airport-related projects have strategic importance for KÉSZ Építő és Szerelő Zrt., including the general construction of the SkyCourt, refurbishment works at terminals T2A and T2B, and the construction of the B-side passenger pier. These airport developments have earned the company the prestigious Construction Industry Award of Excellence in the transportation facilities category.
