KÉSZ Group strengthens its presence in Romania with a new production unit

Torda, 6 March 2025 - The new production unit of KÉSZ Group, created with an investment of nearly HUF 2 billion, has been inaugurated in the village of Várfalva, near Torda, Romania. The group's Romanian subsidiary has been operating for more than 20 years, and the new unit will enable them to expand their activities: in addition to construction work, they will now also manufacture metal and steel structures and ventilation equipment, among other things. KÉSZ Group's aim is to continuously increase its capacities, so that over the last four decades the company has gradually expanded its international presence alongside the Hungarian market, with the aim of becoming a regional player.

KÉSZ Group’s subsidiary is performing well on the Romanian market. A new production unit has recently been inaugurated in the neighbourhood of Torda, which will enable KÉSZ Romania’s team to carry out construction and construction activities as well as manufacturing.

With a history of more than 20 years, KÉSZ Romania has become one of the leading companies in the construction industry and a major player in the region, carrying out complex construction works for production halls, warehouses, factories, commercial buildings, as well as excellent results in the rehabilitation of monuments and the restoration of built heritage. It is worth mentioning that the Church of St. Michael in Cluj was awarded the highly prestigious Europa Nostra prize after its renovation. Ongoing works include the construction of the Corallis Apartments, a self-invested residential complex in Bucharest, the restoration of the Kálnoky Castle in Sepsikőröspatak, the construction of the Institute for Research on Artificial Intelligence at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, the construction of a wellness/ SPA centre in Covasna, the renovation of the MCC building in Oradea and the construction of the STIHL factory in Oradea.

New production hall to help level up

The new production unit was established with the support of HEPA Hungarian Export Development Agency Zrt., under the Foreign Market Growth Support Programme. The total cost of the greenfield investment was HUF 1.8 billion, of which more than HUF 761 million was provided by the state, and the development created 13 new jobs.

In addition to the production hall, KÉSZ Romania has acquired new production equipment and technologies that will enable it to launch a new activity. With this investment, the company is now also involved in the production of metal and steel structures and ventilation components (pipes, fittings), in addition to its construction work, thus expanding its market potential.

A surge in international expansion

The ceremony was attended by Levente Magyar, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This is the first in a series of projects implemented by Hungarian companies with the support of the Hungarian government in Romania, said Levente Magyar.

According to the State Secretary, the whole nation can be proud of KÉSZ Group, a Hungarian construction company that has achieved great success abroad, even under the toughest market conditions.

"This production hall is a symbol of the Hungarian government's efforts to strengthen the presence of Hungarian companies in the Carpathian Basin, beyond Hungary's borders," he said.

"KÉSZ Romania will play a key role in achieving the international expansion goals and investments of KÉSZ Group. Over the years, we have participated in several outstanding projects in our export markets, and now we have reached another milestone and further strengthened our presence by establishing our manufacturing plant in Romania under the Foreign Market Growth Support Programme initiated by HEPA Hungarian Export Development Agency Nonprofit Zrt.", said Tamás Vida, CEO of KÉSZ Group.

"With this step, we hope to be able to participate in new investments where we are not able to enter as a main contractor. The factory is designed in such a way that it can be easily expanded with additional production capacity, responding flexibly to market needs," stressed István Albu, head of KÉSZ Romania.

KÉSZ Group currently has interests in 5 countries and aims to continuously increase its capacities and further strengthen its international presence with complex solutions.
