Közös sikerünk a Mercedes-Benz kecskeméti fejlesztéseiben

The new Mercedes plant in Kecskemét has just been officially opened

Europe’s largest and the world’s second-largest Mercedes-Benz plant is now operating in Kecskemét. KÉSZ Group has been an active participant in the plant’s development since the very beginning: in recent years, we have contributed to the completion of projects totaling more than 325,000 square meters, and over the past three years, we have carried out a greater volume of construction work than ever before.

The development of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét is one of the most significant competitive market investments in the history of both the Hungarian automotive industry and the domestic construction industry. KÉSZ Group has been a key player in the project since the start of the developments. Over the years, we have contributed to the plant’s development through numerous phases, completing projects totaling more than 325,000 square meters; and in the past three years, under the leadership of KÉSZ Építő, we have carried out a construction phase of greater volume than ever before, worth more than 220 million euros.

During peak periods, our teams worked simultaneously at nine different sites to ensure that Mercedes-Benz’s new Kecskemét plant could begin production on schedule. Over the past three years, work has been underway on a construction site spanning nearly 150,000 square meters, often around the clock, while the member companies and partners of KÉSZ Group worked in coordination toward a common goal.

One of the most significant elements of the project was the construction of the nearly 97,000-square-meter Rohbauhalle, the body assembly plant, where vehicle bodies are assembled from components arriving from the stamping plant before being sent to the paint shop. As part of the building, a two-story office building covering nearly 2,000 square meters was also constructed.

Another major undertaking was the revitalization of the 40,000-square-meter paint shop. The building, which was completed in 2019 but had stood unused for years, had to be equipped with entirely new technology, while the mechanical and electrical systems also had to be recommissioned in accordance with updated standards. All of this was accomplished while we continuously managed operational modifications and client requirements alongside the technological commissioning.

In addition, KÉSZ Építő completed the Design & Build project for the Assembly Hall, participated in the construction of the utility buildings and gatehouses, and began construction—as well as the subsequent expansion—of the new preschool for the children of Mercedes-Benz employees.

The Kecskemét project clearly illustrates that the success of an industrial development of this scale requires not only construction capacity but also a high level of organization, professional expertise, and coordinated collaboration across various disciplines. For KÉSZ Group, this project represented both a professional challenge and an opportunity to prove its capabilities.

“The Mercedes-Benz developments in Kecskemét clearly demonstrate what KÉSZ Group’s integrated operations are capable of: under the leadership of KÉSZ Építő and through the coordinated efforts of our member companies and partners, we are able to create value by implementing industrial investments that stand out even on an international level,” said Béla Ármos, CEO of KÉSZ Építő and a member of the board of directors of KÉSZ Holding.

We are proud that KÉSZ Group has been an active participant in the development of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét for more than a decade, and that our work has contributed to the realization of one of Hungary’s most significant industrial investments. This project has once again demonstrated that Hungarian engineering expertise, the dedication of domestic construction professionals, and KÉSZ Group’s integrated operating model are competitive, reliable, and create long-term value even on the international stage.
